Hyundai Verna Facelift Spotted: What’s New in the Updated Design

  • Spotted with revised front and rear styling
  • Engine options likely to remain unchanged

Hyundai has been spotted testing a facelifted version of the Verna sedan, signalling that a mid-cycle update for the popular midsize sedan is in the works. The camouflaged test mule was spotted overseas with coverings at both the front and rear, pointing to noticeable exterior design changes.

At the front, the Hyundai Verna facelift appears to feature a revised fascia, including a redesigned grille and sharper bumper elements. While the split headlamp setup is expected to be retained, the lighting units themselves could receive a new signature. A subtly reworked bonnet line also seems to lend the sedan a cleaner and more cohesive front-end design compared to the current model.

Updates are expected at the rear as well. Spy images suggest revised tail-lamp internals and a redesigned rear bumper, helping refresh the Verna’s appearance while preserving its familiar silhouette. The facelift is also likely to introduce new alloy wheel designs, further differentiating it from the outgoing version.

Inside the cabin, Hyundai is expected to focus on feature and trim upgrades rather than a complete redesign. The existing dual-screen dashboard layout is likely to be carried over, with the addition of new comfort and convenience features, updated trim finishes, and revised variant-wise equipment.

Mechanically, the Verna facelift is expected to remain unchanged. It should continue to be offered with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines, paired with manual and automatic transmission options. No major powertrain updates are anticipated.

In the Indian market, the Hyundai Verna competes in the midsize sedan segment against rivals such as the Skoda Slavia, Honda City, and Volkswagen Virtus. With competitors receiving regular updates, the upcoming facelift is expected to help Hyundai keep the Verna fresh, competitive, and relevant.
